Job Description

The role

Highways England is recruiting an Abnormal Loads Planner to be based in Mansfield  on a Fixed term basis for 9 Months. The purpose of the role will be to plan routes for Special Order category loads and carry out a range of administration activities, to support the achievement of Abnormal and Indivisible Loads team objectives and service standards.

Day to day

  • Plan and agree routes for the movement of Special Order (SO) category loads in England and Wales; manage specific movement files ensuring relevant policies and procedures are followed.
  • Carry out peer checks on routeing data, to support the delivery of appropriate route planning.
  • Coordinate the consultation process, ensuring that agreed objectives are met.
  • Enter and maintain information on systems and files to ensure that information is up to date, accurate, in the right place and easily accessible.
  • Answer standard enquiries and act as a point of contact internally and externally, to resolve issues and contribute to the development of relationships.
  • Undertake ad hoc administrative duties as and when required, ensuring accurate, timely, delivery and that relevant policies and procedures are followed.

About you

  • Able to analyse complex information and to make evidence based decisions in a highly-pressured environment, ensuring rigour in advice, persistence in analysis and identification of solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in an office environment or delivering an efficient
    customer service
  • Ability to dynamically prioritise
  • Calm - able to deal with incidents in an organised and effective manner
  • Innovative- Identify better ways of doing things
