Job Description

This role will be based within our highly successful Major Projects Directorate under our Complex Infrastructure Programme. Complex Infrastructure Programme has been established to bring together an overall programme approach for the delivery of three major schemes; A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, a new Lower Thames Crossing and A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down. The role will be to support the Strategy Planning & Improvement Lead to identify, promote and lead opportunities to improve the delivery of investment across Complex Infrastructure Programme, delivering packages of work and engaging with the regions to scope, implement and measure opportunities for efficiency, increasing capability and better customer outcomes.

The Role:

To support the Business Improvement Managers to identify, promote and lead opportunities to improve the delivery of investment across the Complex Infratsructure Programme, delivering packages of work and engaging with the regions to scope, implement and measure opportunities for efficiency, increasing capability and better customer outcomes.

Day to Day:

  • Create, implement and manage an innovative communications plan to keep colleagues up to date with business improvement projects, progress and successes, actively gathering feedback and acting on it to gain buy in and engagement.
  • Work with regional Business Improvement teams to drive change through a culture of continuous improvement, effectively embed changes, realising and quantifying benefits and efficiencies, sharing best practice and ensuring consistency across all regions.
  • Support specific business improvement projects or initiatives nationally or within regions to deliver identified business benefits, managing the delivery of work packages to meet time, cost and quality objectives.
  • Work with Business Improvement managers to organise, run and support workshops as necessary. Present workshop findings to help drive change programmes through to completion.
  • Contribute to the identification and evaluation of emerging risks, issues, dependencies and constraints associated with the project, and the development and implementation of solutions to overcome these.   • Plan and manage own CPD to ensure continuing development of Project Management and Business Improvement skills and awareness and understanding of industry best practices.

About you: 

  • Proven evidence of leading and delivering projects evidencing risk and dependencies
  • Proven evidence of managing stakeholder relationships and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes.
  • Provide experience of communicating in a variety and innovative methods to raise awareness of business improvement activities gaining buy in and embedding change.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of Lean continuous improvement methods, tools and techniques.
  • Proven confident facilitator and presenter - able to design and run engaging and interactive workshops delivering tangible outputs
  • Provide stakeholder management skills, developing positive relationships and outcomes.
