Job Description

The role

Due to continued growth and a very successful few years, Highways England are currently investing heavily in their South West team and as a result still looking to expand the team

We are looking for an experienced Technical Survey Coordinator to join our team in our newly built Preston offices. This role could potentially be based out of our Penrith offices as well if they are closer.

As Technical Survey Coordinator you will be responsible for facilitating technical surveys on the network in support of design and value management whilst ensuring that all work carried out by service providers is carried out in a timely manner.

Day to day

  • Assisting in the development and management of a programme of technical surveys for the Cumbria and north Lancashire business in conjunction with commercial teams and the framework contractors to achieve the requirements of asset delivery teams.
  • Assisting in the management of a programme of works to minimise the disruption to the road user and identify efficiencies in the delivery of the work
  • Assisting the value management engineers/asset leads in managing resources to ensure all works are delivered on time and to budget
  • Updating internal clients on the progress and delivery of the technical surveys, including actively chasing contractors for the delivery of the technical surveys outputs to ensure timely delivery of service
  • Maintaining an accurate programme of survey works and liaise with the programming team to identify new and emerging opportunities for work
  • Assessing safety performance to minimise risks, develop improvements and escalate issues with relevant authorities in a timely manner and carry out any tasks identified to the post in the level 2 and relevant 2a organisational health & safety raci charts
  • Planning road space occupancy to ensure road space is available for technical surveys to be carried out.
  • Providing technical advice to survey requestor to influence how contracts are written.
  • Liaise with m&r as principle contractor as appropriate.

About you

  • Engineering knowledge
  • Awareness of likely traffic management requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex programmes of work
  • Experience in delivering roads projects on site
  • Fully conversant with Chapter 8 Traffic Management requirements
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification in managing sites
  • CSCS site supervisors
  • Driving licence         
  • Ability to provide feedback oncontractors
  • Awareness of budget management and resource planning
  • Able to make decisions on site and under pressure
  • Willing to work unsociable hours
